Thu, 16 October 2008 Welcome to Episode 23, where Comic Racks will engage you with tales of squidgy fingers, job-miffs, and podcast-theivery...and then actually get on with the episode itself. This week we have real-people news (Comic Racks, Jamie Smart, and Almost Dr Karl Byrne)and some pretty spiffy reviews: Deadpool #1 and 2 Big Hero 6 #1 The Dead #1 Our Top of the Racks are as outstanding as ever with a controversial Tail thrown in for good measure (via a big joint fume about Forbidden Planet)... Our main topic this episode is less of a blow-by-blow account of Brum Con 08, but rather more of a how-drunk-did-we-get-and-what-panels-did-we-miss? account We round off with some cracking Rack Music (Clint Eastwood from Gorillaz and Cath... from Death Cab for Cutie), as well as a rather dubious Peeve... Tune in next fortnight for an Ask the Racks special and don't forget this is the last episode to be hosted on the Geek Syndicate feed - in the future find us solely at http://comicracks.libsyn.com/rss Comments[0] |

Thu, 25 September 2008 We return to our usual disorganised ‘format’ in this episode – join us as we discuss the not-so newsworthy-News, a wide ranging Reviews section, groovy Top of the Racks, very dis-similar Rack Music, and a bit of a natter about the upcoming Birmingham Con (without knowing who was doing what events/panels – which helpfully went up the day after we recorded!).Prepare for tangents-a-go-go as we get distracted (surprise!) over Jamie Smart drawing robots hurling over nuns, Stace diving on creators, Iz going dreamy over Almost Dr Karl and his debut at BrumCon. Reviews include: Mummy 3, Angry Gnome’s Short Stack, Mercury & the Murd, Catwoman #82 and True Story Swear To God. Top of the Racks this episode are Fat Chunk & the Judge Dredd Megazine’s Tank Girl – both of which *everyone* should pick up Rack Music: Biffy Clyro – Mountains, Jonathan Coulton – Skullcrusher Mountain Comments[0] |
Thu, 25 September 2008 ![]() Join us as we continue our epic march towards episode 100 with another trek into the fertile land that is Geek. Before the boys can get a head of steam going they are already tearing to shreds the new Bond theme Another Day to Die. In the news the guys dicuss the crazy idea of a Naked Gun movie without Leslie Nielsen, the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, how Vigrin Comics have gone liquid and Warner Bros earns itself a few dry slaps. Moving onto The Week that was there are reviews of Umbrella Academy: Apolcalypse Suite, Batman: Going Sane and The Hunter: 3 Terminal Oblivion and well as a brief mention of a few 2000AD titles In this week's main feature Barry watches his last ever episode of Smallville as the lads take us on a whistle-stop tour through some of the season openers. Thu, 18 September 2008 Welcome to more underbelly trawling in the murky world of Geekdom. This week there is some excessive use of the f word and bad singing (I know surprise) from the outset...you have been warned. In the news we talk about some of the claims being made about Transformers 2 and Star trek. Dave reveals his lack of excitement for season 3 of Heroes.
In this week's week that was we chat about Spooks code 9, Buffy, Infinite crisis and Secret invasion what we think so far, Samurai Girl and Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.
Week that was kind of became our main feature as we went into a discussion/ rant about well Geek Marketing I guess and how Comic/tv companies could better use of the tools around them.

Mon, 8 September 2008 In this super-duper special episode, The Ladies of the Racks get up
close and personal with none other than Ubu Bubu creator and all-round
cool dude, Jamie Smart!Alas, there are no news and reviews segments, but heck, who needs those when you have a awesome interview?? Especially when said interview reveals a deep seated hatred of Jaffa Cakes, a general fear of selling oneself at conventions, a far too large amount of talk about cat porn, and the revelation that Jamie Smart smells. It's true. No, really. Sir Jamie Smartington sticks with the girls through Rack Music, almost causing a divide in Rack City, and even puts forth a Peeve of the Fortnight. Like this podcast wasn't filled with enough vitriol All this plus girly squeals, more random swear words than you can shake a stick at and a whole lot of fun! ~ Please to note: We apologise profusely for the sound quality of this episode. Unfortunately technical difficulties minutes before recording and the Pamela program's all-round hatred of Racks fun lead to a rather muffled Jamie. We present this episode to you in the best state we could muster, and we hope to muck around with other recording programmes in order to have Jamie on again in the future. If he'll do it, that is, we were quite scary... ~ Jamie Smart's website of awesomeness Comments[0] |
Thu, 4 September 2008 SURPRISE!!!!..In this super secret episode Barry and Stace from Comic Racks join forces in this explosive episode.

Thu, 21 August 2008 After the awesomeness that was last episodes Paul Cornell interview,
the ladies decide to get back to the Racks, bringing you an episode of
completely delicious reviews. The girls cover everything from comics to TV to film, touching on titles such as Rest #0, The Walking Dead V1, Wall-E, Dynamo 5, The Mummy: Rise and Fall of Xango's Ax, Deadpool: The Circle Chase #1 - 4, The Living Corpse #0 & #.5 and Six Feet Under. And, of course, what would this episode be without a little Jamie Smart, this time in the form of Bohda Te? All this plus several more reviews (look out for The Dark Knight super-spoilers from 1 hour 10 mins until 1 hour 22 minutes in), a one-time-only new segment called Challenge Stacebob, and all the usual rambling! Mon, 4 August 2008 Episode 19 - Everybody Loves PaulIn this momentous episode the ladies do away with their usual format in order to bring you their very first creator interview with none other than the frankly rather awesome Paul Cornell. Paul has dipped his toe into the wonderful world of comics on many an occasion, writing stories such as Wisdom, 2000AD's XTNCT and the currently running (and fucking brilliant) Captain Britain and MI:13 series, to name but a few. As well as working in the comics world, Paul has penned some of the best episodes of Doctor Who to grace our TV screens (Human Nature and Family Of Blood, anyone?), several Doctor Who novels and audio shows, and episodes for top series' such as Primeval, Robin Hood and Casualty. During the interview, the girls quiz Paul about his upcoming projects, whether being a writer makes watching shows/reading books more difficult from a technical point of view, and whether he's had any unnerving fan experiences (other than Stacey professing her undying love for him at Bristol Convention earlier this year, of course.) To top the episode off, we pick our Rack Music for this fortnight; both of which turn out to be rather geekily inspired as one of us riffs on a Watchmen theme while the other takes inspiration from Wisdom #3. All this as well as some insights into Paul's writing history, advice for budding writers and some good old fashioned swearing. Don't forget to take part in the UK Comics Podcast Group competition by listening to the 5 Secret Quotation episodes: for more information visit www.comicspodcasts.co.uk Enjoy! Comments[0] |

Well, wouldn't you get excited at the prospect of interviewing Paul Cornell, having Jamie Smart on the show and being in a comic?? Tue, 8 July 2008 Ladies and gentlemen,
boys and girls (go away, you innocent children shouldn't be hearing
this kind of language!), welcome to Episode 17 of Comic Racks; the
episode where no-one can stay on topic! That's right, it's Tangent City this episode as Stacey gets hyper on who knows what and Iz, still recovering from concussion, has to deal with that level of craziness. The girls cover highly important topics this fortnight, from the origins of The Cheeky Girls, to Stacey's Mr's giant birthday list, to whether Daniel Craig is a pouty woman or not, plus lots more in between. But fear not, my comic loving friends, for the girls do get their comic on and bust out a load of reviews, from Kick Ass to Fables, Dock Walloper to Maus, plus a couple of non-comic goodies along the way. This is mostly because they couldn't think of a proper topic, but hey, it's all good. During these spoiler-rific reviews Iz proclaims that everything ever is "fucking awesome", Stace brings everyone down and The Racks it's first ever joint Top of the Racks. That's right, folks, there's a comic out there so awesome that it gets the full Comic Racks endorsement! (Go buy it!) The regular Rack Music segment sees The Rack Ladies accidentally develop a theme of video game related tunes, though Stace has yet to find out Iz's verdict on her pick this fortnight. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a podcast full of random singing, laughs and reviews a-plenty! Comments[0] |

peeves, Rack music plus all of the usual geeky ramblings :DThis is one of the more action-packed episodes with tales of Iz’s furious disagreement with her stairs and Stace’s awesome experience seeing not one, but two, of her favourite bands live (much to the concussed Racks dismay). Our main topic this week is Ask the Racks - Part 3, where the ladies answer a bunch of questions from forumites (and half of Stacey's family) including: Which superhero film is the best and worst?, which superhero film would you make and who would you cast in the lead?, and have either of you ever 'converted' a mate to comics who previously wasn't interested? and if so, what hooked 'em? Wed, 11 June 2008 Firstly, the Ladies of
Rackington would like to apologise to you, the wonderful listening
public, for the untimely release of this episode. Technical
difficulties and unprovoked front door attacks prevented this episode
from being released on time, but trust us, it's worth the wait! After several months of being completely rubbish, the girls finally get their act together and present to you their second and rather awesome Rackette, the lovely Marcus Q. Join them in the main feature as they discuss Marcus' comic likes and dislikes, how dyslexia can affect a comic reader and what comic creators and editors could be doing to improve the reading quality of their works. During the show, Stacey gets excited several times, on topics such as The Futureheads (oh, will she ever shut up about them? I think not), Jamie Smart and awesome looking Transformers covers. As well as all the excitement there are rants a-plenty as Iz slates her Tail of the Racks, and Marcus addresses a friend who borrowed (read: nicked) some books once... Unfortunately, Mr Q departed before the Rack Music and Peeve segments, but never fear! Iz and Stace produce the goods, as they can never let a good rant lie. Will Stace disguise herself as Velma to stalk The Futureheads? Will Marcus ever get his books back? Will Iz accept that being "the tits" is, in fact, a good thing? Listen on and find out! Enjoy! Wed, 7 May 2008 In Episode 13, the Racks present their Top 10 Kick-Ass Female Characters from the comic books, TV, and film :D A pretty diverse range of choices have emerged, with only one character being chosen by both ladies :P
As is now customary with Comic Racks - this episode *will* contain VERY strong language - you have been warned :)
Reviews and rants a -plenty can also be found in this episode, along with only one selection of Rack Music being chosen this time by the Stace de la Bob. Iz resists the urge to review Baby Boomers *again*, but (at Stacey's request) reads out the majority of Ubu Bubu.
So, join the Racks and listen in on their sage musings on Iron Man, Wesley "what tax bill?" Snipes, almost forming the Neil Googe appreciation society, a coupla stonking Peeves, and a shared Tail of the Racks (dun dun dunnnnnn).

Mon, 21 April 2008 Welcome to Episode 12 where Stace takes over the editing reigns for the first time (and shows Iz up by getting it done bang on time).Apologies for the sound issues in this episode which we wil have sorted out for next time :) Before they get stuck into the main topic of a Bristol Con preview, the girls talk about Rock Star, Dr Who doing Shakespeare, Baby Boomers at BristolCon and online, the Gotham Knights trailer and the Golden Champagne Glass Awards 2008 (vote Geek Syndicate!!). Reviews include Maintenance Vol 2, Ms Marvel #25, Dr Who Season 4 Eps 1 & 2, CJ7, and Everybody's Dead #2. This section witnesses Iz inadvertantly insulting Steve Coogan (she didn't mean to) while going mad over Son of Rambow, Stace losing her mind over not having Fillerbunny, and the Racks being divided over the new Who companion. Iz very rudely dominates the Top of the Racks section with a 12 minute hysteria fit over the best-birthday-present-in-t For the main topic, the Racks chat about which creators/ writers / artists they are most looking forward to seeing in Bristol, and for the first time ever, both Racks like each others choice for Rack Music. Mon, 7 April 2008 Episode 11 - Pigs are FunnyBack to their regular programming (hopefully), Iz and Stace bring you a lazy, but still rather good if we do say so ourselves, episode of Comic Racks! In this reviewtastic episode, the ladies talk you through some of their reading and TV watching highlights from the last few weeks. Much rambling on the subject of Torchwood takes place, and Iz finally gets around to starting Death Note, hoorah! Stacebob tries desperately, and quite badly, to describe the sheer brilliance that is Ubu Bubu #1, as Iz reveals a rather controversial Tail of the Racks... In our not-so-much-news segment, Stace botches a news story about a Whedon musical, Iz muses on the sanity of Tom Cruise and we discuss the pros and cons of spoof movies. As well as all this juicy content, Stace almost wets herself recalling her brush with the Futureheads, and the ladies finally get Rack Music properly off the ground with our choices for this episode. Enjoy! Comments[0] |

Tue, 5 February 2008 After the gargantuan double episode Doctor Who extravaganza (also known
as the two episode ramble-fest), the Racks gals get back to their
regular fortnightly format to chat all things comics (and some things
TV and film...)Join us as Iz gets over excited at the prospect of signed John Barrowman stuff, Stace demonstrates why she shouldn't be allowed to sing on the podcast, and both girls come up with the worst, least newsworthy news EVER. Stace's sister, Zoe, makes her comics podcast debut, allbeit in a slightly concussed and very un-comic related way. Being too lazy to actually think of a main topic to discuss, The Racks ladies (ladies? pfft!) do an extended review section, covering comics and graphic novels from recent to oldies, and indies to the Big Two. Stace gets a little bit violent towards old witchy women (for good reason, though!) and Iz worries that her all-round love for Battlepope may condemn her to the fiery depths of Hell :P We give the details about our competition again (just a couple more episodes to go to get your entries in, guys!), and Iz pimps herself out for a new job. Enjoy! Comments[0] |

Stace gets scared of, well, practically everything in this episode, from statues to small girls with balloons, Iz sings a Doctor Who solo and we both get a little Tennant-fangirlish as we delve into what we both see as the better half of this season. Stay tuned for a quick reminder of our competition and prizes; we've now had two entries, but we're greedy for more! Enjoy :) Comments[0] |

Mon, 21 January 2008 This week the noobie-bird-nerds get their teeth into the first half of Dr Who season 3, and a darn sight more in between.Join the ladies as they talk about loads of stuff including Jenna Jameson's comic and her need for a nice jumper. Stacey looses her mind and has a full-on nerdgasm during a News Item on Deadpool, and Iz proves once again she can't read properly as Teen Titans Year One is referred to as TT Year Zero :( Dr Who Season 3 from The Runanway Bride through to 42 is reviewed, with slight detours via starch-related old Who villains, a morbid fear of Davros, Tom Baker's teeth, and the utter crap-ness of straws. In our Top of the Racks section Stacey gets a little creepy over her Kingdom Come and Iz goes all groupie over Mike Norton (again). If anyone is easily offended, please do NOT listen to the Peeve of the Fortnight section - the girls out-do themselves on the swearing front this week..but it's all Anne Robinson's fault. Listen out for the all important shout-outs, which Iz manages to screw up quite a bit, but recovers in time to discuss logos on thongs and dog jackets :) Enjoy!! comic series’, films, and TV of 2007. Also covered in depth are things
on screen, stage, and print in 2008 that are making the girls a little
bit over-excited.Along the way Iz proves that senility can happen to the best of us, and reveals why she could possibly be the worst person to go to the cinema with, Stace loses her mind over a panda, and provides a mini musical interlude, showing why one half of a podcast should not be left to their own devices……plus both girls have RANTS a-plenty.
